Lightning Gets First Victory

St. Mary's University Women's basketball was excited and eager to welcome the visiting Briercrest Clippers Friday night for their first contest in the 2021-22 ACAC season. Right from the tip the women's Lightning athletes ramped up the defensive pressure against the visiting Clippers. Finishing the first quarter with a commanding 32-4 lead. The Lightning continued their high pressure play and went into halftime with a 57-14 lead over the visiting Clippers.

Leading the way for the lightning at half is Danya Osterling with 13 points 9 of which came from the 3 point line. Hannah Helton and Macyn Morning Bull chipped in with 12 each in the first half.

Maddie Beattie leads the scoring for the clippers with 5 points and Melissa Ellis with 4 at the half for the Clippers.

The Lightning continued their dominant performance in the second half finishing the game 92-42.

Player of the game for St. Mary's Lightning was Macyn Morning Bull finishing the night with a double double 20 points and 13 rebounds. Player of the game for Briercrest was #4 Rachel Friesen finishing the night with 5 points and 3 rebounds. Leading score for the Briercrest Clippers was Hope Jordens with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
