Wolves welcomed the Keyano Huskies for their Home Opener
The Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves welcomed the Keyano Huskies for a pair of weekend games for their home opener.
The Keyano Huskies went on a 6-0 run to start the game. NWP head coach Bill Bradley calls a time out. #15 Paige Snyder for the Wolves scores for 2, followed by #5 Makayla Porteous draining a 3. Huskies still lead 10-5. Huskies go on one more run and the 1st quarter ends 24-08 for Keyano.
The 2nd quarter begins with Huskies #22 Kaylynn Tucker getting a 3-pointer. NWP Wolves answer back with a beautiful lay-up by #15 Paige Snyder. Wolves steal the ball from Huskies and #14 Alexis Lee gets another 2-points. Huskies call a time out. #20 Raylene Badger scores a lay-up out of the time out to come within 11. Wolves call a time out. Huskies respond with 2 points. 1st half is over. Huskies lead the Wolves 35-21.
The Wolves welcomed The Muskwaseepi Singers to center court at half time to drum the Cree Wolf song. Farley joined them at center court for the performance.
Wolves start with 3rd quarter with possession, and take it straight to the net. Huskies fowl the Wolves, and #15 Paige Snyder takes the shots but can't connect. Huskies #22 Kaylynn Tucker takes the first points in the 3rd quarter, with Huskies #3 Zera Lynn Panesa following up with another 2 points. #20 Raylene Badger passes to #4 Gracie Reschke who makes the basket. Halfway through the 3rd quarter and Huskies lead 45-25. Subs come in for both teams. Wolves #13 Alexis Mills adds 2 points to the Wolves score. Heading to the fowl-line is #4 Gracie Reschke, who makes 1-out-of-2 baskets. Nothing but net for #20 Raylene Badger. Time out is called by the Huskies. The 3rd quarter ends with a score of 57-29.
First to score for the Wolves #20 Raylene Badger, 3 minutes into the 4th. Wolves battled hard however did not have enough time for the comeback win. Keyano wins 80:38.
Player of the Game for the Keyano Huskies was #2 Mzna Mohammed.
Player of the Game for the NWP Wolves was #15 Paige Snyder.
Both teams are back in action tomorrow at 1pm at NWP gymnasium.
