Women's Basketball Huskies win nail-biter against Rustlers for weekend sweep

The Keyano Huskies Women's Basketball team came out ahead in a nail-biting finish Saturday, topping the Lakeland Rustlers 57-55 at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta. 

Kaylynn Tucker led the Huskies with 17 points while Kayla Lutterodt added 13 in the victory. Joy Victor and Maja Besic each contributed 11 as well. 

The Huskies charged out to a 17-12 lead after the first quarter, but the Rustlers closed the gap to four points at the half. After the Huskies narrowly extended their lead in the third quarter by a single point to make it 46-41, the Rustlers put forth a furious comeback bid that fell short by two points. 

Bethany Montebon was the lone Rustlers player to reach double-digits, scoring 15 points to led her team. Alana Olson came closest with nine points, matching Susan Ayaa. 

Lutterodt was named the Player of the Game for the Huskies while Abigail Whitehead earned Player of the Game honours for her side with eight points on the day.
