WBB| The Kodiaks Get Back in The Win Column After Victory Over Visiting RDP Queens in 1st Match of Weekend Doubleheader

The Kodiaks looked to get back in the win column after dropping last week's matchup against the Concordia University Thunder as they faced off against the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens in the 1st game of their weekend doubleheader.

Red Deer got a jumpstart on the Kodiaks as it took them a little longer to get the wheels turning to allow the Queens to put on the pressure early in the game. Queens #14 Heena Sidhu was a constant threat on the court picking up 7 points in the 1st before the Kodiaks gained some traction and were able to jump in front of RDP giving them the lead late in the quarter which they were able to hang on to giving them a 20-18 lead after the 1st quarter.

The Kodiaks and Queens kept it tight back in forth fighting to stay on top with both teams trying to clean up on the necessary areas from the 1st quarter. Kodiaks #7 Tylee Leavitt took charge and grabbed 7 points in the 2nd to boost the Kodiaks to a 37-33 lead at the half.

The Kodiaks were able to hang on to the lead throughout the 3rd keeping an edge on the Queens to keep them at bay so the Kodiaks could get ahead and hold a solid lead. The Queens made a push late in the quarter which would put them in front briefly before quickly being overrun by the Kodiaks offensive allowing Lethbridge to hold a 56-53 lead heading into the 4th quarter.

The Kodiaks hung onto the momentum they ended the 3rd with which only pushed the Kodiaks farther ahead of the Queens growing their lead by double digits which would be enough to seal the deal and secure the Kodiaks victory by a score of 79-67 for the Kodiaks.
