CALGARY, ALTA., (Jan. 21, 2023) - The second half woes for the SAIT Trojans women's basketball team continued Saturday afternoon.
For the second time in less than 24 hours, the Trojans were beaten by the Olds College Broncos - this time 67-60 in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) matinee action played at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium.
SAIT has now dropped four of their five games to start 2023 after heading into the Christmas break with a 7-1 record. Olds College improves to 7-7 with the weekend sweep.
On Saturday, the Trojans fell behind 18-11 after 10 minutes of play thanks to seven points from Olds College guard Makayla Rose. Brook Baker responded for SAIT with 9 of their 11 points in the quarter.
Down 12 at the half, SAIT rallied to cut the Broncos lead to 3 points late in the third quarter, but that is as close as they would get.
Baker, who finished qwith 22 points and 12 rebounds, was named SAIT's Player of the Game.
Rio Yamazaki recorded 19 points and 9 rebounds to earn Player of the Game honours for the Broncos.
