Lakeland came into Friday's contest shorthanded due to injury and battled valiantly in a losing effort
The Rustlers began their last homestand of the regular season with the Ambrose Lions in town, a first-time matchup for the two programs. In the opening quarter, Lakeland managed to limit the visitors offence, leading 19-15, however, things changeed in the second, as both teams started to hit from down town. By half, 43-38 was the score for the Lions, with the Rustlers just missing a score at the buzzer.
The 3rd Quarter was back and forth, with the Rustlers failing to go on a long run, tying the game 52-52 at the break. That continued in the 4th, where the Lions hit a big triple to jump ahead 67-64 with 21 seconds remaining and Susan Ayaa answered with a three of her own shortly after. In overtime, the Rustlers had another chance to tie in the dying seconds, but came up short, losing 75-72.
Ayaa and Tegan McArthur were the POG's.
Lakeland now has one more regular season game, where they will host the Lethbridge Kodiaks Saturday evening.
