SAIT Trojans take on the Concordia Thunder in game 2 of the 2025 Womens Basketball Championships

In the game 2 matchup of the Championship weekend, the SAIT Trojans dominated the Concordia Thunder, securing an 88-57 victory. Despite shooting a slightly lower field goal percentage (55.6%) compared to the Thunder (50.0%), the Trojans' efficiency from beyond the arc made the difference, connecting on 11 of 30 three-point attempts (36.7%) while Concordia only managed 5 of 8 (62.5%).

The game was largely decided by the Trojans' ability to capitalize on turnovers, scoring 14 points off Concordia's 9 turnovers, while Concordia failed to convert any of the Trojans' 5 turnovers into points. The Trojans also dominated in second-chance opportunities, pulling down 11 offensive rebounds to Concordia's 6, leading to 13 second-chance points compared to 7 for the Thunder. Concordia ended the 3rd quarter with a buzzer beater by #3 Laurel van der Giessen, taking them into the 4th with a high momentum in the hope of catching up.

SAIT's defensive intensity was on full display, recording 17 steals to Concordia's 4 and forcing numerous errors throughout the game.

Despite some struggles from the free-throw line, where SAIT shot just 55%, their overall team effort on the boards and in transition helped them seal the victory. Concordia was unable to find their rhythm offensively and couldn't match the Trojans' physicality, particularly on the defensive end.

With 28 total rebounds to Concordia's 25 and a solid team effort, the Trojans moved to a commanding win.
