Keyano Huskies take on Briercrest Clippers in the Opening Game for the 2025 Women's Basketball Championships

In an intense and thrilling start to the championship weekend, the Briercrest Clipper defeated Keyano Huskies with a score of 71-51, securing their first win of the weekend. Briercrest's efficient shooting (53.1%) and strong free-throw performance (78.9%) were key to their commanding win. Keyano struggled offensively, with only making 41.3% of field goals and 58.8% of free throws, they struggled to catch up to Briercrest.

Briercrest capitalized on turnovers, scoring 11 points off Huskie's 9 turnovers, compared to just 5 points off turnovers for the Huskies. Both teams had 24 rebounds, though Keyano led in offensive rebounds (9), Briercrest proved more effective, scoring 9 second-chance points compared to Huskie's 2.

Despite Huskie's slight edge in assists (9 to 8) and blocks (3 to 1), Briercrest controlled the game with superior shooting and defense, recording 9 steals. 

#23 Asia Wells was named player of the game for Briercrest Clippers, finishing with 15 points and was instrumental in leading their team to victory. #20 Jaylynn Twin was named player of the game for the Keyano Huskies 

Briercrest's consistency on both ends of the floor helped them secure a well-deserved win.
