Keyano Huskies take on the Concordia Thunder in game 5 of the 2025 Women's Basketball Championships
As the Keyano Huskies and Concordia Thunder begin day two of the championship weekend, the battle will determine who advances to the 5th place game and who faces elimination.
Keyano Huskies secured a hard fought 55-44 victory over the Concordia Thunder. Despite Thunder struggling from the field, shooting just 28.1% and going 0-20 from beyond the arc, they fought hard defensively and managed to keep the game competitive.
Keyano was led by Danika Cadieux, who had a standout performance with 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals. She was perfect from the free-throw line, hitting all 7 attempts. Emma Tomchuk added 12 points and hit two 3-pointers, while Jaylynn Twin contributed 13 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.
For Concordia, Georgia Bowman and Chloe Sutherland each scored 14 points, but the team was unable to find success from long range, missing all 20 of their 3-point attempts. Thunder did shoot 88.9% from the free-throw line, but their 19 turnovers proved costly.
Keyano's 35 rebounds and 93.3% free-throw shooting helped them stay in control, and despite 23 turnovers, their defence and rebounding made the difference. Concordia's effort wasn't enough to overcome their shooting struggles, leading to Keyano's victory. Keyano and Concordia offered an electric and competitive game to start off day 2 of the championships. We will see Keyano back on the court tomorrow at 1:00pm to battle it out for 5th place.
