Kings Eagles vs Lethbridge Kodiaks
A tight first quarter, with a lot of 3 pointers for both teams, ended 23 to 19 for the Eagles. Number 9 for the Kodiaks led the way with the hot hand for the Kodiaks, and the Eagles spread the scoring around.
The second quarter saw the scoring slow down for the Kodiaks, as both teams worked the ball to the posts. With both teams attacking the paint, the number of fouls went up as well, and free throws became vital, both teams in the bonus with 4 minutes remaining. The Eagles pulled away, capitalizing on transition play and solid finishes at the rim. They stretched the lead to 45-29 to close the half.
The third quarter was dominated by the Eagles on both ends. They extended the lead to 63-41, keeping the Kodiaks on the perimeter for most of the quarter. A key difference was the 21 to 12 ratio of shots attempted for the Eagles, who were able to rebound and cause turnovers to give them the edge in shots taken.
The Kodiaks kept working hard, trying to find a way to cut into the lead, but they only managed to keep the deficit to around 20 for the rest of the game, relying on outside shooting and foul shots. Meanwhile, the Eagles worked the ball into a variety of scoring spots. The Game ended 75-57 for the Eagles.
Players of the game were #9 Summer Long with 24 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists for the Kodiaks and #5 Hailey York 11 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists for the Eagles. Noteworthy for the Eagles was #19, Aneilia Ayotte, who finished with game high 26 points.
