Semi Finals - Game 4
The Concordia Thunder take on The King's College Eagles in the ACAC Women's Basketball Championship semi-finals.
This game started off on a high note, with both sides showing extreme defensive intensity, leading to a low-scoring first quarter. The first quarter ended with 12 points for the Eagles, with Megan Aleman (#13) contributing half of the team's points, finishing the first quarter with 6. Chloe Sutherland-Deklerk (#8) facilitated on the offensive end for the Thunder, attacking the basket strong, ending up with 5 of her team's 13 points.
The second quarter had a steady offensive showing from both sides with strong takes to the basket. The Eagles' Jordana Rivet (#15) explodes for 12 points, showing off her impressive shooting ability beyond the arc. Both teams remain consistent within this battle of attrition on both ends of the court. The Eagles finished the half with 18 points, while Concordia had 10.
Both teams' offence began producing at the beginning of the third. The Eagles attempt to slowly pull away, maintaining a steady lead throughout the third, ending with a score of 40- 46.
The Eagles were consistent within their team scoring throughout the fourth, continuing to work to widen the point spread. But Concordia put up a solid fight with Megan Jetzke (#9) leading the charge. The Eagles were able to maintain their lead after only a small 3-point difference with 2 minutes left but ended the game with a score of 63-70. The Eagles pulled out the win to conclude the battle of these two strong Edmonton teams.
Player of the game for Concordia was Chloe Sutherland-Deklerk with a well-rounded stat line of 7 rebounds, 3 assist, 1 steal, 26 points. And Megan Aleman for King's College, leading her team to victory with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 19 points.
The King's College Eagles will be advancing to the ACAC Championship Gold Medal game tomorrow against the Nait Ooks at 6:00 pm (CST).
