Broncos Women’s Hockey battle but Queens are ultimately successful

Olds, AB 

The RDP Queens won 4-2 against the Olds College Broncos on January 20, 2022 at the Olds Sportsplex.

The RDP Queens were the first to make it onto the board with their first goal of the night scored at 9:47 of the first 20 minutes. The goal was scored by Madison Sansom and assisted by Jordyn McLaughlin. Broncos Maddy Black and Shauna Johnson spent 2 minutes each in the penalty box for separate infractions. While Queens Dylan Norrie had 2 minutes for Body Checking in the first period. Shots at the end of the period 14 for RDP and 6 for the Broncos. 

In the second period Keera Tiringer scored the Broncos first goal of the night unassisted at 1:45. The Queens Natalie Buttle scores their second goal of the night assisted by Alli Soyko and Kyla Hansel at 10:16. Jailyn Bablitz scored RDP's third goal at 18:03 assisted by Brooke Skrypichayko. The penalty box was busy for the Broncos as Jorja Werenka was called for Hooking and Keera Tiringer was called for Boarding. Shots in the period 13 for RDP and 6 for the Broncos. 

Kiera Mulder scored the Queens fourth goal at 8:53 of the final period and was assisted by Kyla Hansel and Haley Kicia. Late in the third period the Broncos Hailey Hoogkamp scored their final goal at 17:47 assisted by Jesse Jack. Haily Hoogkamp was called for Body Checking and Reegan Broadbent for Hooking both in the third. RDP's Kiera Mulder went to the box for Body Checking. Final shots for the night were 38-19 for the Queens. 

The player of the game for the RDP Queens was number 5, Kiera Mulder and the player of the game for the Olds College Broncos was number 5, Keera Tiringer.

The Olds College Broncos will be back at the Olds Sportsplex again on Thursday, January 27, 2022 for the Make Some Noise for Mental Health event as they take on the NAIT OOKS.
