Trojans edged by Ooks

CALGARY, ALTA., (Jan. 21, 2022) - The SAIT Trojans women's hockey team came up a bit short, Friday night.

The Trojans were beaten 4-3 by the visiting NAIT Ooks in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) contest played at SAIT Arena.

SAIT falls to 1-4 with the loss, while NAIT remains unbeaten at 4-0.

After the first 20 minutes of play, the teams were tied 1-1 thanks to goals from NAIT's Brittney Savard and SAIT's Pyper Alexander. 

Trojans forward Tamryn Ward scored halfway through the second to give SAIT its first lead. However, it was short-lived as Savard and Bre Martin scored just eight seconds apart to put the Ooks back on top after two periods of play.

NAIT's Maddy Autz scored an insurance marker early in the final period, and that would prove important as Trojans forward Aila Wik scored with just under two minutes remaining to round out the scoring.

The teams will finish off their weekend set Saturday night in Edmonton.

Ward and Savard were named the Players of the Game.
