Ooks Fall to The Broncos

The NAIT Ooks hosted the Olds Broncos at the NAIT arena Saturday night. It was a good game, and both teams gave it their all but Olds ended up taking home the win 4-1.

NAIT had a chance early with a scramble, and the puck squeaked out to the side of the net; the Ooks were there to hit home. Upon discussion, the referee concluded that it was kicked into the net, so the game was still scoreless halfway through the first. Late in the first, shortly after killing off the powerplay, Sydney Jack scored the first goal of the game for the Broncos.

1-0 Olds after one.

Partway into the second, Olds doubled their lead with a goal from third-year forward Jesse Jack. Darby Robertson cut the lead in half when she capitalized on a great chance with just under seven minutes left in the second. NAIT was still down one, though, and outshooting the Broncos 27-10.

2-1 Olds after two.

The third period was tightly checked as the goalies stood tall. No goals were allowed until two late empty netters by the Broncos. Sydney Jack and Hailey Hoogkamp scored the goals.

Final score 4-1 Olds. The final shots were 29 to 15 for NAIT

Both teams look to next week to keep the strong play going.
