Reid scores winner as Queens edge Ooks at Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre

Red Deer, AB – Only one goal separated the top two teams in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women's Hockey Monday evening.

Red Deer Polytechnic Queens netminder Madison Fox and NAIT Ooks goaltender Havana Batke were both outstanding. Queens first-year forward Brenna Reid was the only one to find the back of the net and the home team picked up a 1-0 decision.

Both Fox and Batke stopped 12 shots over 40 minutes.

The Queens finally broke the stalemate on their 15th shot of the game. At 4:15 into the third period, Brenna Reid was sent in alone on NAIT's goal and the RDP Bachelor of Kinesiology student beat Batke high on the blocker side.

With time winding down, the NAIT Ooks called a timeout. With 1:43 remaining, Batke was pulled for the extra attacker. The Ooks pressed to score but couldn't beat Fox.

Brenna Reid received the North Star Sports Queens Player of the Game award. Bre Martin picked up the recognition for the Ooks.

Fox turned aside 18 shots for her third consecutive shutout. Batke made 18 saves.

The first place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (8-1) will meet the second seed NAIT Ooks (6-3) on Friday, February 11 at 7 pm in Edmonton.
