Women's Soccer TKU Eagles v. CUE Thunder

On September 12, the King's University Eagles women's soccer team took on Concordia Thunder at The King's University soccer pitch at 3:30 pm. 

First Half Highlights:

Concordia Thunder opened the match with solid defensive efforts. #5 Emma Ward made two crucial stops, while #12 Isabella Amico demonstrated excellent footwork and blocked a key offensive play from the Eagles. #13 Amy Fayant also impressed with her control and movement on the ball. Concordia was rewarded for their pressure when #12 Isabella Amico scored her first goal of the game, giving the Thunder an early boost.

The King's Eagles responded quickly. #9 Kahlan McDonald stood out with dynamic offense and skilled footwork. #21 Ava Cunningham was a key presence in net, making several important saves to keep the game close. The Eagles tied the game with a fantastic strike from #5 Mikaela Lemke, assisted by a precise pass from #7 Paige Hiron. They would go on to take the lead with a second goal, this time from #20 Isabella Smith, putting the Eagles ahead at halftime.

Eagles 2 – 1 Thunder

Second Half Highlights:

Concordia came out strong in the second half. #8 delivered a critical block early on, while goalkeeper #25 Taytum Busch made a standout save to keep her team in the game. The Thunder evened the score when #10 Vanessa Pietramala calmly converted a penalty. Momentum shifted further in Concordia's favor when #14 Angelina Saporito found the back of the net, giving the Thunder a late lead.

The King's Eagles continued to battle. #3 Hayden Simpson and #9 Kahlan McDonald showed grit with solid defensive play, while #5 Mikala Lemke remained a consistent offensive threat. Goalkeeper #21 Ava Cunningham had another stellar half, making numerous saves to keep her team within striking distance.

Concordia Thunder 3 – 2 King's Eagles

Both teams demonstrated skill, resilience, and teamwork, making for an entertaining and closely contested match.
