Thunder Open Up 2019 With a 5th Set Win

EDMONTON, AB - JAN 4, 2019

On Friday night the Grand Prairie Wolves were in town for the first of a two game series at Concordia University of Edmonton where the Thunder picked up their first win of 2019 by defeating the Wolves in a 3-2 thrilling match (15-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-18, 15-12). 

Offensively for the Thunder, #14 Tanielle Yacey led the way with 17 kills and #4 Ema Derbyshire was able to contribute on both sides of the ball with 29 assist and 15 digs. 

Leading the way offensively for the Wolves was #07 Leah Friesen (14 kills, 20 points) and #12 McKenna Wolstenholme (17 assist). On defense for the Wolves #02 Taylor Henley kept the rally going with a team high 43 digs. 

The players of the game were #12 Megan Bieraugle (7 block shots, 4 digs, 11 points) for Concordia and #01 Megan Koch (13 kills, 38 digs) for GPRC. The two teams will face off again tomorrow afternoon at 1:00PM at Concordia University of Edmonton. All of the action can be watched live at https://www.acactv.caen
