GPRC Host Double Header Against Augustana Vikings

The Wolves welcomed the Augustana Vikings to their gym for a pair of weekend games. The Vikings won the Friday game 3:2, Wolves are looking for a weekend split.

Augustana put the first few points on the board and found themselves up 5-1 before Megan Fowler had back to back kills to make it 6-3. The Vikings offense was relentless, and they quickly went up on the Wolves by 9. Finishing the set 25:14.

Back to back aces to start the 2nd set courtesy of Jaden Cross. A couple big blocks and the Wolves are up 4-3. Augustana ties up the game with a net serve from GPRC. Both teams battle back and forth until the 8th point when the Vikings went up 13:8 and the Wolves needed a time out. Strong out of the timeout, they come back and make it 18:23 however ran out of time when the Vikings finished the set 25:18 and take a 2-0 lead.

To open the 3rd Meagan Warner kills the ball for a point. Leah Friesen picks up a couple and puts the team up 3-1. A long rally ends with a point to Augustana. A light touch at the net by #5 Heather Holtz and another point goes on the board. #3 Megan Fowler serves for a couple points and puts the Wolves up 10:4 before the Vikings called for 2 minutes. Vikings score 4 out of the timeout and come within 2 of the Wolves. Lauren Hale-Miller calls a time out. Vikings score 2 out of the Wolves timeout to tie the game at 10. #13 Rae Metrunec serves for 11 straight points before Wolves find a way to put it away. They could not find another gear to gather more points and the Vikings end it 25:15.

Player of the Game for the Augustana Vikings was #20 Addi Wolosuk with 10 kills and for the GPRC Wolves #12 McKenna Wolstenholme with 18 assists. The Wolves welcomed teams from GP Christian School and Prairie River School to support the Wolves today. Thanks for showing your coming and showing your support.
