WVB| Kodiaks Came out on Top in 2020
Jan. 18, 2020- The Kodiaks were back in home action prepared to defeat the Olds College Broncos for the second time this weekend.
Passion was displayed throughout the Kodiaks starting line up as they took control and dominated the court. The Broncos trailed close behind giving it their all on every point, not allowing themselves to become discouraged from yesterday's loss. This was a set with no easy points and no quiet moments as the bench cheered their teams on. Nevertheless, the Kodiaks continued and advanced their lead, eventually pulling out the first win of the night with a score of 25-14. Jamie Brown from the Kodiaks was in her element during the first set, achieving four kills of her own.
The Broncos achieved five easy points while the Kodiaks had difficulty attaining a point of their own. It was not until the tenth point that the Kodiaks finally matched the Broncos score. It was anyone's game, as there was no clear winner or loser insight at that point in the game. However, the Kodiaks were unable to achieve the points necessary to successfully attain the win they were looking for. The Broncos outside hitter, Tabi Martin was a huge asset in set two as she carried out five beautiful kills contributing to their first win of the night with a score of 25-21.
Both teams came into set three fighting tooth and nail, making every point count. As the game continued, Kodiaks took just enough control of the game to place themselves comfortably five points ahead of the Broncos. Second-year, Janeen Pallatt from the Broncos carried out seven marvelous kills for her team as an attempt to win the third set but unfortunately fell short. Third-year, Jamie Brown from the Kodiaks was a powerhouse on the court as she accomplished six digs and four kills for her team. She strongly assisted the Kodiaks in their second win of the night with a close score of 25-23.
The momentum of the game was maintained from the Kodiaks end as they were confident that would be the final set of the night. However, the Broncos were not making it easy for them, as they targeted the Kodiaks weak spots. Kodiaks outside hitter, Mack Lewicki demonstrated her dominance on the court in the fourth and final set as she attained five kills and two aces helping her team come out on top of the weekend with a final score of 25-18.
