Vikings take the win against Eagles

Augustana Vikings face off against The King's Eagles for an entertaining match. Both teams came out ready with their A-game. Both teams start the first set of well with back to back points. Vikings #13, Metrunec swings and makes a great kill scoring the point for her team. With a Vikings up with a score of 24-21, Grace Scott, Eagles Head Coach calls for a timeout to regroup her players. With a score of 24-22, Vikings #14 Van Dyke does an attack kill scoring the point and send the crowd to their feet. The set ends with a score of 25-22 for the Vikings. 

 

Scott, Eagles Head Coach gives the Eagles a pep talk at the break in between the sets, and they start the set off strong. Eagles #15 Lea makes a rolling dig ensuring her team gets the point. Vikings floor captain #13 Metrunec, serves multiple in a row causing the fans to cheer louder from the sides. Vikings #8 Boyes, does a jump attack that forces the Eagles to not be able to return it. The second set ended with a score of 20-25 for the Vikings.

 

In the 3rd set, the Eagles started off stronger than the Vikings allowing them to take the lead, and maintain it throughout. Eagles #12 Pattison called for her setter to set her right side and made a jump attack that Vikings were not able to return allowing her to make the score for her team 22-16. Vikings #13 Metrunec scores a jump attack point causing the Eagles to take a timeout. After some more gameplay, and another timeout from Eagles, Vikings score 3 back to back points making the score 24-24. Point after point creates a large amount of excitement between the fans, both home and visiting. With back to back points and the fans not only on the edge of their seats, but in the air with excitement, the Vikings take the set winning the game. The final score is 31-29 for the Vikings. Vikings take the win 3 sets to 0.
