Eagles fall to the Vikings
The King's University Eagles team were looking to avenge their second loss of the season, as they took on the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings. The Vikings, who are on a nine game winning streak, are looking to make it a weekend sweep against the TKU Eagles this evening, as they beat the Eagles in straight sets at home.
In the first set, the Vikings carried on the momentum they had and came out to an early lead. The early lead did not phase the Eagles, as they continued to play their game and clawed their way back. But the lead was just to much to overcome, as the Vikings took the set 25-20.
In the second set, the Eagles flipped a switch and put their game into another gear. The Vikings were unable to thwart the Eagles offence, as the Eagles were able to take the second set, in convincing fashion, 25-11.
In the third set, neither team wanted to give up this set easily, as both teams went point for point. But after a couple of key plays late, the Vikings were able to squeeze out a 25-19 set win.
In the fourth set, the Vikings came out looking to finish the game, but after an early timeout, the Eagles were able to take back the lead. It looked as though the Eagles were going to take the game to a fifth set, but the Vikings mounted a comeback of their own. As they crawled their way back, the Eagles fought valiantly but the Vikings looked to be to much as they took the set 25-23, and the match 3 sets to 1.
The Eagles will be looking to bounce back/start a new streak, as they take on the Keyano College Huskies, at home, January 31 @ 6pm.
