Rookies Shine in Victory over Kodiaks

The Lions took on the visiting Lethbridge College Kodiaks in a match that ended in a 3-2 win for Ambrose.  The Lions started the first match strong as a cohesive unit running a varied and strong offense.  Ashleigh Wolensky proved to be a force for the Lions in her first home game of the year earning an impressive 16 kills and 4 blocks. First year Lion, Jorgia Johner, started the game for the first time in her ACAC career, later going on to win player of the game. While Ambrose took the first set 25-17, Kodiaks proved that they were not out of the match and demonstrated great hustle which, combined with an increase in kills, allowed them to take the 2nd set 25-19. Leading her team in kills (16) and helping to initiate that spark for the Kodiaks was Mack Lewicki, their player of the game.  It was a game of momentum changes as the 3rd set was won by Ambrose 25-13 followed by Lethbridge taking the 4th set 26-24.  An overall hard-fought game for both teams resulted in the Lions finishing the 5th set 15-5.
