Eagles lose intense match vs. Rustlers

The King's University Eagles took on the Lakeland College Rustlers in the first two matches this weekend. Tonight's match is a battle between two teams that have already clinched their spots into provincials. The Eagles are coming off a big weekend, as they swept their previous opponents, while the Rustlers are looking to shake off their game, as they are on their own two game losing streak.

In the first set, the rivalry between these two teams was in full display, as early on in the set, each point was highly contested. The Eagles were able capitalize on a couple of errors and hold onto a lead. The Rustlers, tried to work their way back, but the Eagles were on their game tonight, taking the set, 25-15.

In the second set, the Rustlers turned the game on it's head as they came out in the set with a vengeance. At one point the Rustlers were leading 18-10, over the Eagles. But the Eagles did not want to go down swinging as they stormed their way back. Fighting for every point, the Eagles were able to come within one point of the Rustlers. But the Rustlers, were able to compose themselves and see the set through, as they took the set, 25-21.

In the third set, it was the Eagles' turn to start the set strong. They looked unstoppable as their offence was firing on all cylinders, and on defence, the Eagles did not let anything hit the floor. With no answer, the Rustlers were unable to counter what the Eagles were giving them as the Eagles took the third, 25-6.

In the fourth set, the Eagles were able to continue their momentum from the previous set, as they came out to an early lead. But the Rustlers, determined to fix their wrongs from their previous set, battled their way back. Building up their momentum the Rustlers were able to take the lead late and take the set 25-21, to take the match to a fifth and deciding set.

In the final set, the Rustlers looked to continue their strong fourth set into the fifth as they took an early lead. The Eagles stormed their way back tying up the set at 10 points a piece. But the Rustlers, were dig deep and take the last 5 points and finish the set 15-10, and take the match 3-2.

The Eagles will be looking to avenge tonight's loss as they play the Rustlers once more Feb. 15, at Lakeland @ 6pm.
