Thunder Down Ooks To Close Out Exhibition Season

EDMONTON, AB (November 6, 2021) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder women's volleyball team welcomed the NAIT Ooks Saturday night for one last exhibition battle before the regular season kicks off. Taking an early lead, the Thunder never looked back as they cruised to a win in three straight sets: 3-0.

The Thunder came out of the gate flying as they found their legs early and jumped to a quick lead in the first set. Although the Ooks made things interesting towards the end of the set, CUE was able to overcome the pressure to take the first set 25-22. The second set was a reverse of fortunes, as the Ooks got ahead early and extending their lead. However, the Thunder were able to overcome the deficit and come from behind to take the second set 25-21. With the win in sights, the Thunder started the third set firing, again jumping ahead early. NAIT made a late run, but CUE never blinked as they took the final set 25-19 to sweep the match 3-0.

Head Coach Erinn Jacula was thrilled with what she saw: "the ladies played a very disciplined game tonight. They stayed patient, took care of their side, and were able to control the game."

With the exhibition season finished, the Thunder will open their regular season campaign next week as they welcome the Lakeland College Rustlers on Friday night.
