WVB| Kodiaks Fought to the Bitter End

November 12, 2021- The Kodiaks were finally back on home turf after a long season of no volleyball, the players were itching to get back into the competition.

The Queens came out strong in the first set, delivering big kills and capitalizing on Kodiaks free balls. Their outside hitter, #9 Jaiden Ferguson was a force to be reckoned with as her offensive skills dominated the court. Kodiaks were unable to gain momentum as the Queens kept their morale high, successfully taking the first set 25-14.

Kodiaks came back with a vengeance in the second set, putting them ahead with the lead. The Kodiak women maintained their lead thanks to big plays from #3 captain Jaimie Brown and #5 Mack Lewicki who had a combined 6 kills. Unfortunately, the RDP Queens weren't done yet and made up the difference to pass them in the end with a score of 23-25.

Kodiaks left side #5 Mack Lewicki couldn't be stopped in the third set, delivering pinpoint accuracy and forcing tips from the opposition. Nevertheless, the Queens Libero #3 Kaylee Domoney was there to pick up the aggressive swings demonstrated from the Kodiaks offensive. Mack Lewicki's drive lit a fire under the Kodiaks, bringing it to a neck-n-neck battle just two points behind the Queens with a score of 26-24.
