Queens take three set home decision over Broncos
Red Deer, AB – The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens used a double digit kill performance from outside hitter Tess Pearman and downed the Olds College Broncos in three sets (25-17, 25-10 and 25-16).
Queens setter Danielle Wiens (27 assists) connected with outside hitter Tess Pearman for 15 kills. Both Jaiden Ferguson and Anna Carlson recorded six kills from the outside. Danielle Wiens, who is a first-year Bachelor of Arts Psychology student out of Regina, also effectively found middles Sydney Rix (7 kills) and McKenna Olson (four kills). Libero Kaylee Domoney made some key defensive plays, totaling nine digs and three assists.
Searra Schoepfner had four kills for the Broncos. Tabitha Martin and Sydney Joyce recorded three kills apiece.
Tess Pearman was recognized as the North Star Sports Queens Player of the Match. Along with the Bachelor of Education Elementary student's 15 kills, Pearman had two digs and one stuff block while hitting for 0.458 percent efficiency.
Lexi Lafreniere received the top player award for the Broncos, contributing 12 assists and two digs.
The Broncos picked up four service aces. Anna Carlson had four of the Queens' eight aces.
The Broncos (2-2) will play the Kodiaks (2-2) in Olds on Thursday, November 25 at 8 pm.
The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (4-0) will challenge the Medicine Hat College Rattlers (0-2) at home on Friday, November 26 at 8 pm.
