Women's Volleyball Huskies top Thunder for home weekend sweep

The Keyano Huskies Women's Volleyball team claimed their second win in as many days Saturday, topping the Concordia Thunder in a four-set battle (25-17, 25-15, 19-25, 25-12) at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre. 

Karlene Kaminski nearly matched her season-high with 18 kills, adding 14 digs as well. Tyneille Neufeld topped the digs list for the Huskies with 24, adding 14 kills in the process. Megan Polant rounded out the trio of Huskies with double-digit kills, securing 10 of her own in addition to five digs, four aces, and one block. 

Setter Erika Box compiled 32 assists and 10 digs in the match. She joined Neufeld, Polant, and Lainey Granley in securing four blocks for the Huskies on the day. Granley had three aces to her credit in the match as part of the 10 total for the home side. Amber Francis had a pair of aces and Box added a single ace to round out the statline. 

Jolene Cook and Kara McIntyre each had seven kills for the Thunder, while Valeria Trujillo had four of her own. Three Thunder players each added a pair of kills in the match.

Shae McDonald led the team with 10 digs while Avery Plandowski had nine digs to go along with 16 assists. Sydney Horyn led the way from the service line with five of the team's 11 aces in the four-set match. 

Kaminski and McIntyre earned Player of the Game Honours for their sides. 

The two sides will meet again next weekend in Edmonton, Alta. as the Thunder play host to the Huskies.
