Broncos and Rattlers battle in tight contest.

The Olds Broncos Headed into Medicine Hat to take on the Rattlers. With construction delays at the Snake Pit the teams met at the Big Marble Go Center in Medicine Hat. The Rattlers had struggled in their temporary home all season but showed big strides and looked to battle hard to take a win at home. The first set was evidence of this with the Rattlers able to create some distance early. Going down 6, the Broncos took an early timeout that seemed to solidify the unit and turn the set around. They slowly chipped away at the Rattlers lead until tying up the set at 21. From here they were able to maintain serve twice and close out a 25-23 first set victory, much to the dismay of the home side.

The second set opened with the teams looking very even for the first half of the set. Nearing the halfway point the Rattlers seemed to win more of the important points and long rallies gaining some momentum heading into the late part of the set. With the score again close, the Rattlers were able to convert the final three points of the set to come away with a 25-22 victory extending the match and tying it at one set each.

The Third set started with the Broncos coming out with a very strong start. Able to create some separation early, they forced the Rattlers to call a timeout.within a few serves they extended their lead to 5 and gave the Rattlers a big lead to chip away at. They started to do this and narrowed the lead to 3 before the Broncos once again earned the serve. Down 15-18 the Rattlers looked to stun the visitors and come back, but the Broncos had other ideas. Content to trade serves and side-outs, Olds College remained just out of reach as they hit 20, up by 3. A Rattler ace brought the score within 2 but that was as close as they got with the Broncos serving 2 aces and closing out the 3rd set 25-19 and looking to the next set to end it in 4.

The 4th set started with the teams very evenly matched for the first 20 points of the set. Once the score was 10-10 the Broncos started to distance themselves pulling ahead 17-13 through the middle of the set. The Rattlers won the point on a serving error and looked to take advantage, but followed it up with a missed serve of their own. The teams traded sideouts and the set neared the late stages with Olds still in control. Able to hold serve and go up 20-15 the Rattlers took their second time out in a last ditch effort to swing the momentum in their favour. With the score 22-17 the result looked all but decided, the Rattlers won a long rally to hold on to their last hope at a comeback. A big block and the score 22-19, the Broncos called a timeout up by 3. The Rattlers again held serve coming out of the break and only trailed by 2. A costly error on their next serve saw the Broncos knocking on the door, but the home side refused to quit. The Broncos got the serve back with a chance to serve for the match but were unable to convert, this allowed Medicine Hat to score 2 straight and tie the set at 24. A Huge block from Rattler Captain Dryden Gris gave the home side the chance to serve for the set to extend to 5. The Broncos needed to regroup once again, calling their second timeout. The Broncos came out and knotted it at 25 and a big block from the visitors saw them a second chance to serve for the match. The Rattlers wouldn't say die and once again knotted the set at 26 now. The Broncos were able to serve 2 straight and pull out the win 28-26.
