WVB | Kodiaks down Lions 3-1 to extend win streak

January 28, 2022- Kodiaks came out ready to play against the Ambrose Lions, hoping to continue their win streak, and keep the Lions 2 game losing streak going.

The Kodiaks showed up strong as Captain #3, Jamie Brown led her team to first set domination, securing 7 kills alone. The Lions held their own against the Kodiaks' powerhouse kills with a total of 3 blocks in the first set but unfortunately couldn't hold them off as the Kodiaks took the first set 25-23.

After an early injury in the second set to Kodiaks #5 Mack Lewicki, the Kodiaks had a hard time finding their stride and shaking it off, with a total of 8 attack errors in the set. The Lions capitalized on the errors of the Kodiaks, taking the set 13-25.

Jamie Brown continued to be a force to be reckoned with in the third set, showing off her powerful kills as well as her strategic tips, gaining 3 kills, while #17 Eryka Woods led the team in the third set with 4 kills. Kodiaks finished off the set 25-20 after a nail-biting rally, seeing some huge digs from #16 Elyse Doble and a ground-shaking kill from none other than Jamie Brown.

The fourth set stayed neck-in-neck as the Lions' #6 nailed 4 kills down, for a total of 7 in the game. Coming off the bench for Mack Lewicki after her injury, first-year #14 Reia Taylor showed what she had to offer, with 7 kills of her own in the fourth to lead the Kodiaks to a 25-17 win in the fourth, taking the game at 3 sets to 1.
