Thunder Lose Heartbreaker to Huskies
EDMONTON, AB (February 12, 2022) - The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder started their weekend series by welcoming the Keyano Huskies Friday night. After a back and forth affair all night, the Huskies took the match 3-2.
Both teams came out strong from the start and took points back and forth between the two. The Thunder found their momentum and took the first set 25-20. Riding that momentum, the Thunder came out strong and kept their lead to take the second set 25-0. The third set found the Huskies taking an early lead against the Thunder. After a nail biter of a set, as the points went back and forth between the two, Huskies were able to keep their lead and took the third set 25-12. The fourth set had the Huskies keeping their lead and momentum and ultimately had them take the set 25-20. Fifth set saw both teams coming out strong. After a nail biter of a set, the Huskies were able to find their edge and took the set 19-17.
After the game head coach Dione Lang commented, "The progress this team has made in the last month and a half has been amazing to be a part of. Every game we learn something about ourselves, which we take into the next match."
The One Team Sports players of the game were #15 Karlene Kaminski for the Keyano Huskies and #11 Jolene Cooke for Concordia Thunder.
The Thunder travel to Grande Prairie tomorrow evening to close out the weekend. They return to action at home when they welcome the Lakeland Rustlers to a home game Friday, Saturday 26, 2022.
