WVB| Kodiaks Fall Short in Bout Against Red Deer Queens in Final Set

Kodiaks looked to put an end to Red Deer Queens undefeated season in the final home game of the season

 

The Kodiaks had a hard time gaining traction to start the match giving the Queens an opportunity to gain an early lead, but once the Kodiaks gained traction they were coming at the Queens at full speed as they got Infront of Red Deer, taking the lead midway through the set. The Queens managed to bounce back regaining the lead and sealing the deal taking the 1st set 25-22.

 

The Kodiaks picked up the early lead on the Queens before Red Deer quickly turned things around using their strong striking skills to get an edge on the Kodiaks and take over the lead. Lethbridge was unable to get back into the set as Red Deer were able to keep the Kodiaks at bay as the Queens took the 2nd set 25-18, giving Red Deer the 2 sets to 0 lead.

 

The Kodiaks came into the 3rd set hot, knowing that the game was on the line, and they were going to have to step up to keep the match going. The Kodiaks gained a large lead and held the lead for most of the set before the Queens caught traction and got themselves back into the set threatening to steal the lead from the Kodiaks. Red Deer managed to jump in front late in the set to put the pressure on the Kodiaks. Lethbridge prevailed proving that there is no challenge too great for the Kodiaks as they were able to push the set to the final points before Kodiaks Mack Lewicki got an ace sealing the deal and getting the Kodiaks back into the game taking the 3rd set 26-24.

 

After the Kodiaks upset the Queens in the 3rd set, Lethbridge was hot showing off their great striking and blocking skills to stop Red Deer in their tracks as the Queens were constantly caught scrambling to get their feet back underneath them. Jamie Brown, Mack Lewicki, and Eryka Woods were dominant in the set showcasing their skills to help push the Kodiaks to the intense final moments in the set where the Kodiaks stood their ground and kept the Queens back and taking the 4th set 25-23 to tie the match and 2 sets apiece.

 

With the game tied at 2 sets to 2, both teams had to give it their all to try and take home the win. Both teams were constantly exchanging points although the Queens held the lead and were going to do everything, they could to make sure it stayed that way. The Kodiaks did what they could but just wasn't enough as Lethbridge fall short in the final set by a score of 15-10 as the Queens secured the win 3 sets to 2.
