Ambrose Lions beat the Olds College Broncos in convincing fashion on seniors’ night.
Calgary, AB – The Ambrose University Lions hosted the Olds College Broncos on Friday night as the Lions celebrated seniors' night. Maddy Williscroft (#6) is the lone senior on the Lions this year, so the night celebrated the excellent ACAC career that she has had. On such a special night, the Lions came out hot, winning the match in 3 straight sets.
Setter Avery Gammel (#6) had a great game for the Broncos, earning 16 assists and 2 digs in their loss. The Lions had a similarly excellent game from their setter Lexi Herrod (#8) who had 32 assists in only 3 sets.
The player of the game for the Broncos was Francesca Sandini (#4) who had an incredible 14 digs, only one less than the entire Lions team managed. The player of the game for the Lions was Maddie Williscroft (#6), and not just because it was seniors' night. Williscroft had 13 kills, 3 digs and 2 blocks in the match.
The Broncos will now prepare for their final two matches of the season against the Briercrest Clippers on February 25th and 26th. This was the final regular season game for the Ambrose Lions who have officially clinched a playoff spot. The exact spot they take as playoffs begin in March will be decided by the results of a few remaining matches next week.
