Queens push past Broncos in four sets
The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens started February on a winning note, defeating the Olds College Broncos in four sets (25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 25-15) at the Ralph Klein Centre on Friday.
Lauren Junck paced the Queens (9-7) with 10 kills to go along with seven digs and four aces, while Vanessa Loos contributed a game-high 19 digs to go with seven kills; libero Francesca Sandini earned Player of the Game honours with 12 digs.
For the Broncos (0-16), Sydney Joyce and Tabitha Martin each had 10 kills, with Joyce adding three aces and five digs to be named Olds College's Player of the Game. Milan Schapowal also turned in a solid performance for the Broncos with seven kills.
Red Deer and Olds College will face off again tomorrow at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre in Red Deer on Saturday, with first serve set for 6 p.m.
