Augustana Vikings host final Running Room Grand Prix leading up to Provincial championships
CAMROSE, AB - ACAC Grand Prix #5 dawned on a beautiful day at Stoney Creek Park in Camrose where 158 runners met to compete. Despite the high number of non-ACAC Runners, both the men and women represented the league well, showing significant rankings overall.
At the end of their 6km run, Lethbridge College Women's team rank first with Sophia Nowicki leading the ACAC pack with and impressive time of 24:21, and Rosie Bouchard in fourth place with a time of 25:10. RDC's Shayla Sklarluk lead her team to a second place finish with a time of 24:52, while Reese Bendiksen rounded out the top 5 at 25:22, contributing to Augustana's 3rd place overall. Anna van der Giessen represented GPRC in third place for women's individual at a time of 25:00.
The men's 8km run also saw a close competition, where Leonard Chesoo of Concordia University of Edmonton placed first overall at 25:13, followed by Michio Green of Augustana at 27:30, and Jacques Saayman of SAIT at 27:46. SAIT Men's team took first place with Brant Lauweryssen anchoring the top 5 ACAC finish at a time of 28:36. RDC's Men's third place was secured by Daniel Szucs fourth place time of 28:30. Meanwhile Augustana's Men's team took second overall on their home track by a fourth-runner tie-breaker.
The next cross-country running meet with be the 2019 ACAC Provincials, hosted by SAIT on Saturday, October 26.
