Great Performance by SAIT at Running Room Cross-Country Running South Grand Prix
Cross country made its long awaited return to Medicine Hat as the host Rattlers fielded a team in an ACAC event for the first time in more then 20 years. While the host Rattlers had a strong event, it was the SAIT Trojans who dominated with Makenna Fitzgerald blowing away the field on the women's side and the Trojan men, led by Yahye Jama, taking the top 3 spots in the men's race.
In the women's race, Makenna Fitzgerald ran a blistering 6km in a time of 23:01 to take top spot finishing 4:43 ahead of the second place finisher, Rosie Bouchard from Lethbridge College. Pyper Gill from the host MHC Rattlers finished third with a time of 28:21.
In the men's race, it was a clean sweep for SAIT. Yahye Jama claimed top spot in the 8km race with a time of 28:50. He was followed in second by teammate Keiran Marchand with a time of 29:44, followed in third by Landon Swartz, who finished in 30:22.
