ACAC Running Room Grand Prix #3
EDMONTON, AB (October 1, 2022) – The third ACAC Running Room Cross Country Grand Prix hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton took place at Goldbar Park in Edmonton on Saturday. A sunny and warm day, the conditions were ideal for the runners as they continue their pursuit of ACAC glory.
In the women's 6 km event, Augustana's Reese Bendiksen came in first among the ACAC runners and third overall with a time of 24:05. Red Deer's Jenica Swartz finished second amongst ACAC runners with a time of 24:09, and Medicine Hat's Rebecca Ross rounded out the top three with a time of 24:21. In the team standings, St. Mary's University finished first, with Medicine Hat in second and Red Deer in third.
The men's 8 km event had a sprint to the finish, as both Concordia's Leonard Chesoo and SAIT's Mokar Said came around the corner beside each other and raced to the finish. Both racers finished with a time of 26:17, but Said ultimately crossed the line a step ahead of Chesoo to finish both first among ACAC runners and first overall. SAIT's Yahye Jama came in a close third place, with a time of 26:39. In the team standings, Red Deer finished in first, with Augustana in second and Lethbridge rounding out the top three.
The fourth ACAC Running Room Grand Prix goes October 15th in Calgary as St. Mary's hosts the final race before ACAC Conference Championships return to Goldbar Park in Edmonton on October 29.
