Frampton pots 2 as Trojans capture South Division title

CALGARY, ALTA. (Oct. 23) - It was wet and cold, but the SAIT Trojans women's soccer team remained scorching hot.

The Trojans received a pair of goals from rookie Kerigan Frampton Saturday afternoon, as they defeated the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens 3-0 in a rainy Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women's Soccer South Division Final.

SAIT will move on to the ACAC Championship Final next weekend, when they will host the North Division champs, the NAIT Ooks. NAIT advanced to the final with a 1-0 victory over Concordia University of Edmonton on Saturday, as well.

The Trojans started the scoring 15 minutes in when Meaghan Wiebe beat Queens keeper Tamera Ferris. The goal would stand up as the game-winner.

Frampton added a pair of insurance markers, one in the 23rd minute and again in the 66th minute to round out the scoring.

Trojans keeper Erin Mergen faced pressure early, but was able to hold off the Queens attack and earn the shutout.

Frampton earned Player of the Game honours for SAIT, while Sofia Quinteros took the honour for Red Deer.
