Vikings takedown Thunder in straight sets

CAMROSE, AB - Rebounding from two straight losses last weekend, the Vikings defeated the Concordia Thunder 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22), Friday night at Augustana Gym.

With the win, the Vikings remain firmly in second place in the ACAC North Division, four points back of the Lakeland Rustlers and six points ahead of the King's University Eagles. The Vikings also improve to a 10-3 record on the season.

Across the court, the Thunder will remain tied with the GPRC Wolves for fifth place in the north with six points apiece.

Helping lead the way to victory was third-year middle Hannah Kuhn with four kills, two aces, and two digs. Veteran setter Sarah Dedrick had 21 assists. Meanwhile, the Thunder's third-year middle, Tanisha Cronin had eight kills and a .727 kill percentage.

In a back and forth battle through three sets, the Thunder found the upper edge in successful kills through the first set, however, the Vikings were able to capitalize on the Thunders's four kill errors compared to their two to take the set, 25-23.

The second set was written in a similar fashion as the home side took a two-set lead entering into the third set looking to close it out in three straight sets and that they did as they took the set and the match with a final, 25-22 set victory.

Meeting again tomorrow night, both teams will take to the court at Concordia at 6:00 PM, with the Vikings looking to sweep the weekend. Catch all the action on ACACtv.
